Amritpal Singh Mehron is an Indian politician who’s first and only attempt was in 2022 at mainstream politics and contested election from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Tarn Taran Assembly in Punjab and lost 2022 election with 6,363 votes against Kashmir Singh Sohal of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He is currently facing strict charges and the court has extended his judicial custody for his involvement in the planning and execution of a murder case.
Previously Amritpal was a bike mechanic and comes from a financially struggling family. He was the head of a social-religious vigilante organisation named Quam de Rakhe (Saviors of the Community), known for moral policing and he cast himself as a religious vigilante on mission to clean Punjab, he also adopted the attire of Nihang Sikh complete with traditional weapons. He completed his 12th and Diploma in Diesel Mechanic from ITI District, Moga in 2014.
Currently he holds the assets of 3 lakh+ with no such liabilities. His father Baljinder Singh who converted himself from Muslim to Sikh. He was a daily wager now a construction contractor also he has 5 children in which Amritpal is the youngest of all.
His journey shifted when he was accused in the murder case of Kamal Kaur Bhabi in Ludhiana. After Fleeing to Dubai he was tracked down via an Interpol Red Corner Notice and extradited back to India by the Punjab Police in April 2026.
