Dalvir Singh Khangura, also known as “Goldy Khangura,” is an Indian politician. He is a dynamic political leader, began his journey as an influential student leader with deep grassroots connections, he is currently a member of the Indian National Congress (INC), he was elected as a MLA from the Dhuri constituency seat in the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Elections.
Dalvir was born and brought up in Dhuri, District Sanjur, Punjab, in a Jat Sikh family. After completing his elementary education from Sarvhitkari Public School Dhura (Dhuri), he joined S.D. College in Chandigarh where he attained his Bachelors and PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications) degrees.
He started his political career as a student leader and became President of the Student Union Of Panjab University (SOPU) in 2006-07. Earlier he was elected as College Representative in S.D. College in 2002. Historically, he also chaired the position of the Panchayati Raj Sangathan, Sangrur District.He became a part of the Punjab Youth Congress in 2007, and served as former Vice-president of the organization.
Then in 2017, he was elected as a MLA from the Dhuri constituency by defeating AAP’s Jasvir Singh Jassi Sekhon with a margin of 2,811 votes.He also remained the Member of Committee Subordinate Legislation and Committee on Petitions of Punjab Vidhan Sabha (2018-19).
In 2019, he was unsuccessful in contesting the Lok Sabha bypoll.
In 2022, he lost his assembly election by a big margin of 58,206 votes as a congress nominee against Bhagwant Mann in Dhuri.
His father name is Baldev Singh and mother is Raspal Kaur. Dalvir is married to Simrat Kaur , and has two sons also she is self employed. He also holds a business and asset of Rs.51,86,716 and liabilities of Rs. 13,25,332.
He switched party from INC to AAP for not being given a congress ticket for lok sabha election from Sangrur.
In March 2023, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau summoned him related to various construction projects, grants distribution, and civic work contracts assigned during his tenure; they also reviewed the developmental projects and works during his tenure as a MLA in Dhuri.
