Jaswinder Singh

Jaswinder Singh Ramdas is a retired civil servant and an Indian politician and who acts as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Attari (SC) constituency of Punjab. As a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, he got elected to his post in 2022 through Punjab state elections.

Early Life & Education

Jaswinder Singh was the son of Ujagar Singh and was born and brought up in Punjab. Jaswinder Singh has done his Masters in Political Science from Lucknow University. For decades, he served in the civil services of the state and retired as the ADC of Gurdaspur in December 2010.

Political Career

Jaswinder Singh has pursued a political career after having a long career in state administration. He made his debut as a politician in 2022 when he won his first election as the candidate of Attari constituency, which formed part of the Aam Aadmi Party’s 92-seat majority in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. As an elected representative, he has been a member of important legislative committees ever since the day Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann assumed office. Some of the important committees include Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes (2022-23 & 2025-26), Committee on Panchayati Raj Institutions (2022-25), and Committee on Petitions (2023-26).2022 Punjab Assembly Elections Attari SC: He contested for the position of the representative in this constituency under the AAP party. He won the election by a huge margin of 10,000 votes, defeating three-time cabinet minister Gulzar Singh Ranike of SAD.

Personal Information

Jaswinder Singh was born in Ramdas, Amritsar, to S. Ujagar Singh Rangreta and Smt. Harbans Kaur. He is married to Principal Prabha Sidhu, who is a retired officer of Punjab Government and now operates her business venture known as Prabh Petroleum. They have two sons and two daughters.Financially, his official election affidavits reveal a stable profile for him. He has assets worth about ₹2.12 crores with total liabilities of around ₹4.83 lakhs.
