Naresh Kataria is an Indian Politician representing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. He is an experienced political leader and he has a long-standing career in public services. He is currently serving as the Member of the State Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Zira Assembly Constituency in Punjab.
He is 10th pass and completed his Matriculation from PSEB, Chandigarh in 1977. Before joining politics he was associated with business and was associated with Indian National Congress (INC).
Naresh’s political career started with Indian National Congress (INC) and he won his first big election as a Congress Candidate in 2007 against Hari Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) , and was the MLA for Zira Assembly constituency in Punjab.
In 2012, he lost his second election under the INC against Hari Singh with a margin of 11,967 votes.
In 2018, he left Congress and joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), then in 2022 he won by 22,776 votes against Janmeja Singh Sekhon of SAD.He was also a member of the Committee on Privileges (2022-23) and Committee on Questions & References (2022-23).
His father’s name is Mangat Rai. He owns a business. He holds the assets of Rs. 3,93,42,139 (3cr+) and Liabilities of Rs. 13,38,102 (13 lakhs+).
He has 2 active criminal cases primarily stemming from political agitations, charging him with administrative non-compliance, also with public infrastructure obstruction. Another was related with Epidemic protocol violation .
