Raghuraj Pratap Singh, known as Raja Bhaiya, is a strong and undefeated politician from Uttar Pradesh’s royal Bhadri estate. He has been the MLA for the Kunda constituency since 1993. He leads his own political party, Jansatta Dal (Loktantrik), which he started in 2018. As a key leader in the state assembly, he continues to have a big impact on UP politics today.
Raghuraj Pratap Singh was born on October 31, 1969, in Calcutta (now Kolkata), West Bengal. He is part of the royal family of the Bhadri estate in the Oudh region of Uttar Pradesh. His father is Raja Uday Pratap Singh.
Raghuraj Pratap Singh (Raja Bhaiya) completed his early schooling in Allahabad (Prayagraj). He then attended the University of Lucknow, where he graduated in 1989.
Raghuraj Pratap Singh (Raja Bhaiya) was the first member of his royal family to enter active politics. Before him, his family had avoided electoral politics. At just 24, he decided to run for office due to his significant local influence, popularity, and royal background in the Pratapgarh region.
He has been contesting and winning from the Kunda assembly constituency in the Pratapgarh district. He holds an impressive record of being undefeated since he began.
Cabinet Minister: Throughout his long political career, he has also served as a Cabinet Minister, managing departments like Food and Civil Supplies and Prisons under different Uttar Pradesh governments, including those of Kalyan Singh and Mulayam Singh Yadav.
According to his official election affidavits, his main profession is agriculture. He owns a large amount of agricultural land. In addition to farming, he also participates in business investments.
According to his 2022 election affidavit submitted to the Election Commission and detailed on MyNeta/ADR, there is one pending criminal case against him.
This single pending case includes serious charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), such as Section 307 (Attempt to murder), Section 364 (Kidnapping with intent to murder), Sections 395 and 397 (Dacoity/Armed Robbery), and Section 506 (Criminal Intimidation).
In the past, he faced several high-profile legal controversies, including POTA charges under the Mayawati government and the DSP Zia-ul-Haq case. However, over the years, he was either acquitted by courts or cleared by investigative agencies like the CBI, leaving him with only one pending case.
