Ramanjit Singh Sikki

He is an Indian Politician and prominent national leader associated with Indian National Congress (INC) , he has repeatedly represented the Khadoor Sahib  Assembly Constituency in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. He is an influential and a senior Congress leader of INC. 

Early Life & Education

He was born and raised in Jalandhar, Punjab, on 24 August 1968. He has completed his 12th and BA-1 from Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh.

Political Career

From the 2000s he entered into the politics of Punjab and aligned himself with the Indian National Congress (INC), he maintained his strict, wavering loyalty to INC without switching parties. He initially built the base in his constituency Khadoor Sahib with local religious blocks and rural agricultural communities.

In 2012, assembly election he won by the margin of 3,054 votes defeating Ranjit Singh Brahampura of SAD. In 2015, mass protest resignation over sacilege incidents. Ramanjeet went on a religious sabbatical and opted out of the election, leading to SAD victory because by-election was called in early 2016.

In 2017 he won the election in Khadoor Sahib constituency against Ravinder Singh Brahampura from SAD with 17,055 votes. 

In 2022, assembly elections he was defeated against Aam Aadmi Party’s Manjinder Singh Lalpura because of the widespread statewise anti-incumbency that was started against congress at that time.

His father’s name is  Mr. S.Sukhdev Singh and mother name is  Sarupinder Pal Kaur and spouse name is Tavleen. He has an asset of Rs 20,12,51,486 (20+ crore) and liabilities of Rs. 21,11,423 ( 21 lakhs) , by profession he is an Agriculturalist, own Businesses and heavy agricultural investment for which he came into limelight for being the second most wealthiest of all the other politicians out there and not to filing tax.

Controversies 

He came into limelight for being the second most wealthiest of all the other politicians out there and not to filing tax for this he is being criticised and questioned which came into limelight in 2012. 

He was also held for threatening SHO his video went viral and opposition criticized him for misusing his power over them.

Bank of India directed the Election Commission not to file his nomination over some unclear liabilities in 2022 .
